KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A North Knoxville woman is accused of killing a Harrogate woman while driving impaired in a 2023 crash.
Ashley N. Greene, 42, will be arraigned Jan. 8 in Knox County Criminal Court. Greene has a long arrest history that includes driving-related offenses, records show.
A Knox County grand jury returned a 10-count indictment against Greene on Nov. 20. In addition, she's charged with vehicular assault, reckless endangerment and violating the state driver's license law.
Greene killed Phyllis Smith in December 2023, court records state. Her conduct also put David Smith, who was with Phyllis Smith, in danger as well as Elizabeth Park, the charges allege. Both are listed as witnesses in the case against Greene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
At the time of the crash, authorities allege, Greene was driving on a suspended or revoked license. She was charged with a DUI the day before the fatal crash, records show.
Greene has been charged numerous times over the past 20 years for offenses that include driving while her privileges were suspended, theft and assault.
