KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (2/2 9:46 a.m.): The Knoxville Police Department has identified the victim from the deadly shooting in East Knoxville Thursday night.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Apollo Cannida. KPD then said the suspect was taken into custody.
The department said 19-year-old Makah Logan was quickly identified as the suspect by the KPD Homicide Unit detectives.
Logan was taken into custody at a Kirkwood Street home by KPD Community Engagement Response Team members around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, according to KPD. He was charged with first-degree murder.

PREVIOUS UPDATE (8:53 p.m.): The Knoxville Police Department confirmed the shooting victim from Thursday, Feb. 1, in the area of North Hembree Street and Linden Avenue is dead.
According to investigators, the shooting call was reported around 5:55 p.m.
A KPD spokesperson said officers and detectives found the victim in an alley behind Jernigan & Sons Mortuary. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the preliminary investigation, it is believed the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal dispute. Investigators said the suspect shot the victim at least one time and ran away from the scene.
No identity of the victim or suspect has been released at this time.
