Knoxville nightclub closed after gang activity, repeated shootings

A Knox County judge ordered the local nightclub Ebony Lounge and Events to close after a string of gang activity, shootings, and extremely violent behavior at the club.

A local nightclub has been boarded up under the order of a Knox County judge for gang activity and shootings that occurred at the club.

Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen said Ebony Lounge and Events at 3434 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue was closed under the state's nuisance law.

According to Allen, judge Steve Sword ordered the nightclub to be close based on gang activity, shootings, and extremely violent behavior occurring at the club.

"The residents of this community complained about the club, even calling it a nuisance," Allen said. "We agreed with those residents that it was necessary to step in and close this property in order to make the community safe."

Allen said the nuisance injunction marks the 54th closure by her office and KPD.
