KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said detectives are investigating a motel shooting that happened Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to the shooting around 7 a.m. at the Econo Lodge at 5505 Merchant Center Boulevard, KPD said.
A man, who had been shot at least one time, was found in a second-floor room. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and is in critical but stable condition, according to KPD.
Detectives believe an unidentified male suspect entered the room, shot the victim for reasons that "remain under investigation," and left the area in a car, KPD said.
Officials are working to identify and locate the suspect. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.
