Knoxville — A Knoxville man has been charged in connection with a road rage shooting last month in a north Knoxville neighborhood.
Trevor Fielden, 21, was charged with aggravated assault for the September 26 altercation that sent another man to the hospital for emergency surgery.
According to court records, the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his pregnant girlfriend on E. Caldwell Ave. She said she didn't see a stop sign at the intersection with Kenyon St. and had to slam on her brakes to avoid hitting another vehicle.
The victim and the passenger in the other car exchanged words before they drove away, then they noticed the other car turn around and begin to follow them.
On Springdale Avenue, the victim got out of the car and began walking towards the other vehicle. He said he was worried about the safety of his girlfriend and their unborn child.
The victim said the suspect, later identified and Fielden, shot at him as he was walking towards the car, hitting him once in the lower abdomen.
