KNOX COUNTY, Ky. — The Knox County Sheriff's Department in Kentucky said a 14-year-old was arrested after authorities received reports of a threatening post on social media that targeted the county's schools.
The sheriff's department said on social media the threatening post was made on Snapchat, and it received screenshots of the post at around 10 p.m. on Sept. 9. The sheriff's department said it worked with the Barbourville Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and school resource officers to address the post.
It said on social media that the post was made from a device that had an IP address tracing back to the 14-year-old's home. It said authorities found the tablet used to make the post at the home.
The 14-year-old was arrested Tuesday afternoon and was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.
