Knox Co. woman accused of killing boyfriend while on 911 call in September, case to be sent before grand jury

When asked by the operator what was wrong, Alexandria Pastor-Light responded with, "I believe in headshots."

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A grand jury will review murder charges against a Knox County woman after she was accused of shooting her boyfriend in the face during a 911 call.

Alexandria Pastor-Light, 29, admitted shooting John Nicholas Belcastro Jr. in September, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office. A police report said she made him take off his clothes in the bedroom before shooting him.

The final moments of that 911 call were played during a preliminary hearing on Thursday. Pastor-Light could be heard crying on the phone and talking to an operator.

When asked by the operator what was wrong, Pastor-Light responded with, "I believe in headshots."

Belcastro's family gasped in shock as the recording was played. Pastor-Light then told the operator on the call that she thought her boyfriend was cheating on her with a man and that he tried to poison her.

"He could have just told me that he was bi, or he could have just separated but he tried to kill me," Pastor-Light said on the call.

An officer who saw the inside of the apartment said he saw what appeared to be one gunshot outside in the hallway in the door, and then several .22 shell casings and live ammunition throughout the bedroom.

The judge ruled there was enough evidence to move forward, with the case now to be sent before a grand jury. Prosecutors are pushing for a charge of first-degree murder with a conviction meaning three different possible punishments: life in prison, life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
