KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — On Dec. 31, 2022, going into Jan. 1, 2023, Timothy Dewayne Stanton confined his girlfriend in a camper parked on the side of her mother's house, according to the Knox County District Attorney's Office of Charme Allen.
Stanton locked the door and used string to tie the door to the faucet to keep it closed. He assaulted his then-girlfriend from around midnight on New Year's Eve until approximately 7:30 a.m. New Year's Day.
According to the DA, he inflicted serious injuries on the victim, including fractures in two places on her ocular bones, three broken ribs, a concussion and multiple lacerations to her head.
Stanton then took her from the camper to his truck to hide so no one would see her injuries. However, she was able to run to the other side of her mother's house, the DA said.
Stanton then left the scene and the victim's son took her to the hospital.
He has been convicted of aggravated assault, domestic assault and aggravated kidnapping. The DA said he has been sentenced to 12 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections with the possibility of parole.
Stanton has two prior felony convictions for evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
