Three men charged with arson after stealing a vehicle and setting it on fire, officials say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Fire Department said three people were charged with arson of a stolen vehicle by the department's fire investigations unit.

Zachary Trey Jordan, 23, William Gage Brewster, 22 and Dalton Kevin Davis, 22, were all arrested and were in custody as of Tuesday. 

Davis was charged with vandalism, theft, tampering with evidence, burning personal property/land, burglary and aggravated burglary. Brewster was charged with three counts of burglary and Jordan was charged with two counts of burglary, according to records. 

In a release, the department said the investigations unit worked with the Knoxville Police Department Auto Theft Unit and the Knox County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Unit on the case. 

KFD said on Oct. 3, a Ford F-150 was stolen from a Fountain City home and was later set on fire. The three people were identified as suspects responsible for the theft and the arson.

Brewster and Jordan were previously accused of breaking into up to 20 vehicles between September 2023 and Oct. 13, including three law enforcement vehicles. KCSO said they were also accused of stealing seven guns and other items from inside the vehicles.

KCSO previously said the majority of those items had been recovered. The Sevierville Police Department and the Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force also worked on the case involving Jordan and Brewster.
