KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A 43-year-old man was convicted of sexually assaulting a child for at least two years, the Knox County District Attorney's Office said.

In July 2021, a victim who was forensically interviewed at ChildHelp disclosed that Jonathan Cortez-Razo sexually abused her several times. The abuse began when she was 10 years old and happened until she was 12 years old, according to the DA's Office.

Cortez-Razo admitted to a Knoxville Police Department detective that he did sexually abuse the girl, the DA's Office said.

"Following years of abuse, I hope this victim can find some measure of peace with the conclusion of this case,” DA Charme Allen said.

Cortez-Razo was sentenced to 16 years without the possibility of parole. After his sentence, he must comply with the requirements of the Sex Offender Registry and Community Supervision for the rest of his life.
