JCSO: Student arrested after threatening to shoot other students at Patriot Academy

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the student had threatened to shoot students at Patriot Academy. Authorities said no gun was found Thursday.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that a student accused of threatening to shoot other students was arrested and charged with making threats of mass destruction.

According to authorities, dispatchers received a call from a concerned parent that the student threatened students with a gun at Patriot Academy in Dandridge. Deputies responded and searched the student, with the school resource officer, according to JCSO. Deputies said no gun was found.

After an investigation, JCSO said the student had threatened another group of students, saying he would bring a gun to school the following day and shoot them.

The student is 15 years old and was brought to the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center in Knoxville, according to JCSO. It said he would be held there until the student appears in court.
