JCPD: Man charged with arson after intentionally setting truck bed on fire at gas station

Jefferson City police determined that 61-year-old Randy Hodge pumped gas into his truck bed and appeared to have intentionally ignited the fuel.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Jefferson City Police Department charged a man with aggravated arson after he purposely set his truck bed on fire at a gas station.

Officers responded to a truck fire at a gas station on U.S. Route 11 East near the Hamblen County line around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.

After interviewing witnesses and watching video footage, the JCPD determined that the truck's owner, 61-year-old Randy Hodge, pumped gas into his truck bed and appeared to have intentionally ignited the fuel.

Hodge then pulled away from the fuel pumps with the truck bed still on fire. A bystander extinguished the flames, according to JCPD.

When Hodge exited the truck, he became belligerent with those attempting to help him, JCPD said.

Hodge was charged with aggravated arson, according to JCPD.
