Inskip Elementary School Principal Lynn Jacomen sent a letter home to parents Tuesday reminding them to educate their children to not talk to strangers after learning a sex offender lives in close proximity to the school.
Dustin Lee Dotson was a custodian at Inskip when he was arrested in June 2016 for asking a 13-year-old girl to send him nude photos. He was fired by the school district soon after his arrest.
According to the TBI sex offender registry, Dotson lives on the 4400 block of High School Road. Inskip Elementary is located at 4701 High School Road.
The letter to parents states school security, staff, and after school staff are aware of the situation and will continue to practice precautionary safety measures to keep all students safe.
In April, Dotson was sentenced to one year of split confinement and five years probation. Court officials said he pleaded guilty to three counts of solicitation of a minor to engage in certain sexual conduct, a class C felony, in Sept. 2016.
After his initial arrest, Knoxville police said a grandmother contacted the department's Major Crimes Unit and said her granddaughter and one of her granddaughter's friends had been by Dotson to send him photos as well. The juveniles were 11 and 12 years old.
