KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (4/29): The Knoxville Police Department identified the man who died in a hit-and-run on Friday.
According to KPD, 40-year-old Zachariah Allen died after a dark-colored SUV or Jeep hit him while walking on Chapman Highway south of the Henley Bridge.
Police said they are still trying to find the vehicle and driver that hit him.

The Knoxville Police Department said it's investigating after a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run overnight.
Around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, KPD responded to a reported hit-and-run on Chapman Highway at Fort Avenue, south of the Henley Bridge, according to the department.
An adult male was found lying in the intersection. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and pronounced dead, KPD said.
A witness told officers that the victim was hit by a black SUV while walking across Chapman Highway. The SUV continued driving south after hitting the victim, according to KPD.
No suspect or vehicle has been positively identified yet, despite "extensive" efforts by officers to canvass the area, KPD said.
