A Harlan County couple faces murder charges after the discovery of human remains earlier this week.
Michael Curtis, 26, and Kayla Curtis, 30, have both been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse.
The human remains were found in a wooded area off of the Mountain Oaks subdivision near the Cawood community in Harlan County.
Kentucky State Police detectives are still waiting on the medical examiner's office to make a positive identification on the remains. However, detectives believe the case involves a missing person from the Harlan area.
The couple is being held at the Harlan County Detention Center on $500,000 bond each.
