GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Greene County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old were indicted on child abuse charges after deputies responded to a hospital a few weeks earlier on reports of possible child abuse.
According to a release, deputies went to the Greeneville Community Hospital on March 28, after hearing about possible child abuse involving a 4-month-old.
On April 16, it said a Greene County grand jury handed down indictments for the people involved in that case. They are listed below, along with their charges.
- Faith Ann Stewart, 18: Aggravated child endangerment, failure to report child abuse
- Danny J. Furr, 21: Aggravated child abuse, child abuse (x2), failure to report child abuse, criminal impersonation
GCSD said both were arrested and taken to the Greene County Detention Center. Each also has a $150,000 bond and is expected in court on July 31. The child was put in the custody of the Department of Children's Services, GCSD said.
