Knoxville officers arrested five people suspected in a shoplifting scheme at a local Walmart, including one wanted on racketeering charges.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded to a shoplifting call at a Walmart near Knoxville Center Mall at 3051 Kinzel Way around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
When they were investigating, Walmart loss prevention said five people had been working together and were about to walk out of the store.
KPD said the suspects were in possession of a felony amount of merchandise, saying the first suspect left the store and acted as a lookout for the remaining suspects.
Once outside, the remaining suspects left their items and tried to run out the emergency exits. KPD apprehended all five.
The five were identified as Dimesha Kirk, Linda Green, Keoshia Starling, Dutchess Lykes, and Kylia Bailey. Four of the five were from the Chattanooga area.
KPD said all but Green are facing charges of burglary and criminal trespassing. Green faces charges of felony theft, and Kirk was wanted on outstanding charges including racketeering enterprise and racketeering conspiracy.
