KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (Oct. 12):
The Knoxville Police has identified a woman who was shot and killed Monday morning in East Knoxville.
47-year-old Trista Denton was shot at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Ben Hur Avenue, according to KPD.
Denton died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, KPD said.
KPD's Homicide Unit is pursuing leads on the investigation, however, a suspect has not been identified or charged.

The Knoxville Police Department said its homicide unit is investigating a fatal East Knoxville shooting.
The shooting happened at the corner of Ben Hur Avenue and MLK Jr. Avenue. Around 10:45 a.m., officers were flagged down regarding a woman who'd been shot, according to KPD.
Officials transported the woman to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, KPD said.
A witness reported that an unknown individual shot the woman, got into a car and fled the scene, according to KPD.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, KPD said.
