SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. — The Sevier County Sheriff's Office said a man is in custody after refusing to surrender to officers on Wednesday morning.
At around 10:30 a.m., SCSO said deputies learned of a domestic dispute involving a gun at a home on County Line Road.
Officials made it to the home and discovered that an adult female and two juveniles were assaulted, according to SCSO. The victims were taken to a safe location and the scene was secured to "protect the citizens in that community," SCSO said.
Officials said the suspect, 38-year-old Deivys Roca Ortega, was inside the home and refusing to surrender.
SSCO said Special Response Team Units at the scene "introduced CS gas" and Ortega was taken into custody.
Ortega was charged with three counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of child abuse/neglect, according to SSCO.
“The quick and safe resolution to this incident is a testament to the trust and cooperation we share with our citizens, and our emergency services agencies,” Sevier County Sheriff Michael R. Hodges, Jr. said.
