DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — The Dandridge Police Department said Wednesday officers arrested a kidnapping suspect after a short pursuit on Highway 92.
The police department said it was told Wednesday morning to be on the lookout for a stolen car out of Knoxville that could have been occupied by a suspect and two children. They were told it could be in the area of Dandridge's Food City, and at around 7:58 a.m. the police department said a sergeant spotted it.
The police department said the car was driving south on Highway 92, and the sergeant tried to pull it over. It said the car began to drive away towards Dandridge, and deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office joined in the pursuit.
The car turned onto West Highway 25/70, according to the police department, and it said officers performed a box-in technique to stop it. Police said Justin Odum was taken into custody. A 6-year-old and 9-year-old were found inside the car as well and were recovered without injuries.
Police said Odum is the children's non-custodial father, and he was booked at the Jefferson County Justice Center with several charges in both Jefferson County and Knox County.
