DA: 43-year-old man convicted for assaulting wife during divorce

On June 13, 2022, John Hall was arguing with his then-wife when he grabbed her and struck her with a belt, according to the District Attorney.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — A man was convicted at trial after assaulting his wife while going through a divorce, according to the Office of the District Attorney General.

On June 13, 2022, John Mark Hall went to their home off of Beaver Creek Drive. Hall and his then-wife started arguing about the divorce and about hidden cameras that he had placed in their bedroom, the DA said.

While arguing, Hall grabbed the victim and struck her with a belt. He then took her phone and left the house.

According to the DA, the victim found an old phone, was able to charge it and called the police. The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and saw injuries on the victim.

A few days later, the victim went to the Family Justice Center to continue the investigation and receive the victim’s services, the DA said.

“Unfortunately, we see more warrants for domestic-related crimes than any other offense,” District Attorney Charme Allen said. “This defendant will be held accountable thanks to the bravery of the victim.”

Hall's sentencing case is set for March 6.
