A convicted gangster disciple has been sentenced to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole for selling drugs and several other charges.
Glenn Larry Brown, Jr., 37, was convicted of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine in a drug free school zone, possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance analogue, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Judge Bob McGee sentenced Brown to thirty years in prison without the possibility of parole.
The district attorney's office said Brown was pulled over for speeding near the intersection of Whittle Springs Road and Lawson Avenue in north Knoxville in March 2016. Both Brown and a passenger in his car appeared nervous, according to investigators.
Brown allegedly told the officer that he was thinking about running. In the vehicle, officers found approximately five grams of crack cocaine, a synthetic drug commonly referred to as molly, and a handgun.
Authorities said Brown has nine prior felony convictions for violent, property, and drug dealing offenses out of three different jurisdictions.
“This career criminal spent the majority of his adult life victimizing people,” said DA Charme Allen. “The lengthy sentence in this case ends that track record.”
Brown has also been classified as a member of the Gangster Disciples criminal street gang, according to the DA's office.
