A Knoxville man convicted of raping a young boy will spend the next 47 years in prison.
A jury convicted Anthony Demarcus Martin, 41, in November of Rape of a Child, according to the Knox County District Attorney General's Office. On Thursday, a judge handed down the maximum sentence of 40 years without parole, to be added to a seven-year sentence in another case.
Prosecutors said Martin was playing video games at his home with a then 12-year-old boy in 2013. The boy fell asleep, and woke up as Martin was raping him. The boy didn't report the attack until years later.
“This sex offender will not be able to harm another child because of the bravery of a
young man who had the courage to come forward and confront his accuser,” said DA
Charme Allen.
Martin has a history of attacks on children.
He was previously convicted of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure in March 2014 involving a different child. In 2012, he was convicted of Aggravated.Assault following a fight at the movie theater in Knoxville Center Mall. In that case, he punched a 16-year-old then repeatedly kicked the teen in the head. The victims was treated for a fractured skull, contusions, and bleeding of the brain.
