HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. — Two people were arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old child, the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office said.
Cody Williams, the child's father, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated child abuse, aggravated child neglect and tampering with or fabricating evidence, according to HCSO.
Miranda Crowe was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated child abuse, aggravated child neglect and failure to report child abuse, HCSO said.
The child's mother, Hayley Michelle Thacker, identified her son as Grayson Lee Thomas Calloway. She said Williams was Calloway's biological father.
Thacker said Calloway died on July 14 and that Williams had primary custody over the child.
The Tennessee Department of Children's Services said it is investigating the child's death.
The charges come from an investigation and sealed grand jury indictments, according to HCSO.
Williams and Crowe were together when they were arrested in Greeneville on Thursday, Aug. 15 around 9:52 p.m.
Williams' bond is set at $1 million and Crowe's bond is set at $100,000.
