KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A person is in custody after a chase ended in the Inskip area of Knoxville.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, deputies took a person into custody at Knox Landing Apartments on Inskip Drive without incident after a chase down Clinton Highway.
A Knox County Airwatch helicopter could be seen circling the apartments, and nearby Inskip Elementary School was placed on lockdown as deputies responded.
According to KCSO, the chase began after deputies were alerted about a man, identified as David Lamar Joseph, burglarizing vehicles in the parking lot of a Walmart off Walker Springs Road.
Deputies said they later found the suspect and tried to pull him over. Airwatch was called in to keep eyes on the vehicle as patrol cars disengaged from the chase.
Deputies said the man ditched his vehicle near the apartment complex. He was later found inside a nearby apartment and taken into custody.
Joseph had two outstanding warrants for violation of probation on narcotics-related offenses on a $90,000 bond. He is also charged with driving on a suspended license, evading arrest, fleeing, reckless endangerment, speeding, as well as possession of fentanyl, cocaine and a firearm.
