KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — A Knox County man, who repeatedly sexually assaulted a child, has been sentenced to 31 years without the possibility of parole, according to the Office of the Knox County District Attorney General.
Forty-year-old Carl Richard Chesney was convicted of rape of a child, sexual activity involving a minor and two counts each of aggravated sexual battery and rape, the DA said.
According to the DA, Chesney began sexually assaulting the victim in 2010 when they were 5 years old. The assault continued for several years until the victim turned 12.
The victim disclosed the years of abuse and the Knoxville Police Department started gathering evidence and interviewed Chesney, the DA said.
“Despite years of abuse, this child had the bravery to step forward and confront her abuser,” DA Charme Allen said. “We will continue to stand with victims and hold their abusers accountable.”
