The family of 2007 torture-slaying victim Channon Christian held a memorial for her Wednesday night - eight years to the day after she and boyfriend Chris Newsom are thought to have been killed by carjackers.
Christian's parents, Deena and Gary Christian, family members and friends gathered at Highland West Cemetery.
Christian, 21, and boyfriend Chris Newsom, 23, were about to go on a date in January 2007 when carjackers encountered them at an apartment complex on Washington Pike.
They were taken to a small home on Chipman Street, tortured, raped and killed.
Four people including ringleader Lemaricus Davidson have been convicted in state court in the case. Davidson is awaiting execution.
