Campbell Co. deputies arrest 76-year-old accused of wounding neighbor with pellet gun

The victim was flown to UT Medical Center. Deputies said they conducted a search through the night and arrested the 76-year-old Friday morning.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — A Campbell County man is in custody after an argument escalated into a pellet gun shooting on Thursday, deputies said.

According to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, 76-year-old Jessie "Little Bill" Comer got into an argument with a neighbor on Chapman Crest Road in LaFollette. Deputies said Comer shot the neighbor with a pellet or BB gun.

The victim told deputies "Little Bill" had shot him when they arrived. An ambulance took the victim to a helipad and Lifestar flew them to University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

Deputies said the victim was shot in the lower abdomen and the wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.

Deputies said they conducted an "extensive search" through the night and arrested Comer around 9:30 a.m. Friday. He was taken to the Campbell County Jail and charged with aggravated assault.
