KPD searching for suspect possibly connected to 2 different business robberies

The Knoxville Police Department said they believe the same man robbed a Subway and Casey's gas station within a week.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said it's trying to identify a suspect believed to be involved in two separate North Knoxville business robberies.

On Friday, March 22, at around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the Subway at 314 Merchant Drive after an employee reported that an unknown man robbed the restaurant, according to KPD.

The man ordered food, pulled out a sign demanding money and implied he had a weapon. He took money from the register and the tip jar and left, traveling eastbound through the parking lot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him, KPD said.

On Thursday, March 28, at around 2 a.m., officers responded to Casey's gas station at 410 Merchant Drive. The store clerk told officials that an unknown man entered the business, showed a knife and demanded money, according to KPD.

After getting money from the register, he was chased from the gas station by another patron, KPD said.

The suspect is described as a man around 6 feet tall with blue eyes, which matches the description of the Subway robbery, according to KPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.
