WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A woman accused of intentionally driving a car into Boone Lake with her 2-year-old child inside has been charged with attempted murder, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Kalyna Laraye Young, 21, has also been charged with felony reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, aggravated child abuse and neglect.
The sheriff's office stated that the incident happened on Saturday. Witnesses pulled both Young and the toddler out of the car shortly before deputies arrived on scene.
Young is being held in the Washington County Detention Center without bond. She is due in court on Monday. The toddler was released into the custody of a family member.
