BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff's Office said Monday a Louisville man was arrested after three armed robberies were reported across the county within weeks of each other.
In a release, the sheriff's office said Jeremy Smith faces three counts of aggravated robbery and is being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on $45,000 in bonds. Authorities said Smith was identified as a suspect after an armed robbery at a gas station on West Broadway in Maryville on Saturday.
The release said his description matched how people described the suspect in two previous robberies. The first was reported on July 3, when deputies responded to a pizza shop on Topside Road. In that incident, authorities said a man entered the store and waved a gun, demanding money. The release said the suspect fired a round from the gun before leaving.
On July 15, a second robbery was reported at a store on Airport Highway. The sheriff's office said a person matching Smith's description walked in and brandished a gun before demanding money.
Smith was arrested by a SWAT team at Sandy Springs Park in Maryville on Saturday. The sheriff's office said deputies searched his vehicle and home and found a gun, a black mask, clothing believed to have been worn during the robberies and some cash.
The release also said the Maryville Police Department, Blount County Sheriff's Office and the Alcoa Police Department worked together to identify and arrest Smith. He is expected in Blount County General Sessions Court on July 25, the sheriff's office said.
