Man arrested after high speed chase through 2 counties

According to THP, the suspect drove at speeds over 100 miles per hour on Alcoa Highway.

UPDATE, 11 p.m.: A man has been arrested following a high speed chase through two counties.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, James Inman Jr. was driving 70 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour construction zone on Alcoa Highway in Knox County. When a sergeant attempted to pull him over, Inman sped up reaching 108 miles per hour. The sergeant says he was driving recklessly and endangered road workers and other vehicles.

He entered Blount County where Inman eventually abandoned his car near Old Topside Road and ran from officers.

THP and the Blount County Sheriff's Office found him six hours later and took him into custody. He faces several charges including felony evading and reckless driving.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Blount County Sheriff's Office is assisting THP with a search for a pursuit suspect.

At this time, it's unclear when and where the pursuit began but the Blount County Sheriff's Office said they're helping look for a suspect who abandoned his vehicle somewhere on Topside Road and took off running.

Investigators have a perimeter set up and a K-9 team along with several deputies are assisting in the search for the man.
