TWRA: Reward available for information identifying person who shot bald eagle near Watts Bar Lake

The TWRA said a $2,500 reward is available for anyone who shares information about the person or people responsible for shooting a bald eagle near Kingston.

KINGSTON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said Wednesday a bald eagle was shot near Watts Bar Lake in the area of Blue Springs Marina, near Kingston. The agency also said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or people responsible.

According to the TWRA, bald eagles are protected by federal law. Violating the law can carry penalties of up to $100,000 and a year in federal prison.

Anyone with information about the eagle should call the Fish and Wildlife Service at 615-736-5532 or the TWRA Region 3 Office at 931-484-9571.
