KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 35 years for the rape of a child he was babysitting, according to District Attorney Charme Allen.
When the victim was 7 and 8 years old, Steven McAbee would occasionally babysit. On two separate occasions, at two homes in South Knoxville, McAbee raped the victim, the DA said.
The victim disclosed the abuse when she was 8 years old. Soon after, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
McAbee was convicted of two counts of rape of a child. The DA said he will serve his 35-year sentence without the possibility of parole.
