SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. — Angela Boswell, the grandmother of missing 15-month-old Evelyn Boswell, and her boyfriend William McCloud have now both bonded out of jail.
The two appeared in court Wednesday in separate hearings after they were charged with theft of property last month.
Boswell was arrested last week in Wilkes County, North Carolina after authorities reportedly found her and William McCloud in a silver BMW that the TBI and Sullivan County Sheriff's Office were looking for in the Amber Alert investigation.
Boswell and McCloud were charged with one count of theft over $2,500. They were both brought back to Sullivan County on outstanding warrants.
Angela Boswell appeared in court first. She said by looking at her affidavit she thinks that her theft charge is “nothing more than a civil matter.” Boswell also told the judge that she is trying to hire a lawyer but no one will take her case because of the stigma surrounding this case. She added she is working on trying to find a lawyer in the Knoxville area.
Judge Klyne Lauderback gave her a court date of March 24 at 9:00 a.m. to get a lawyer.
McCloud appeared in court shortly after Angela Boswell. Angela Boswell stayed in court for that hearing. The state asked the judge for more time to bring witnesses from North Carolina.
McCloud was released from jail on bond Wednesday evening.
Boswell must wear an ankle monitor as a condition of her bond, which was set at $1,000.
Evelyn Boswell has been missing since mid-December. The TBI issued an Amber Alert on February 19th after a family member reported her missing.
Evelyn's mother, Megan Boswell, is currently in the Sullivan County Jail on one charge of false reporting.
