KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man is arrested after he killed a pedestrian on Murphy Road at Shannon Valley Farms while driving under the influence, according to reports.

At around 9:02 p.m., a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was on patrol when they responded to a crash with suspected injuries.

After arriving at the scene, THP reported there was a person who had been hit by a silver Chevrolet. That person was later pronounced dead. Later on Monday, authorities identified the victim as Alexandre Azarenok, and said he was a pedestrian.

The THP officer spoke with the suspect, Aldo Weddington, when he told them that he was the one who struck the victim.

According to reports, the officer could tell Weddington was possibly under the influence after noticing his eyes had constricted pupils and was red and watery, was sweating profusely and his speech was slow. When asked if he had used any drugs, Weddington told THP he had used marijuana in the past few weeks and was currently on medication for anxiety.

Weddington consented to perform a standardized field sobriety test, to which he failed.
