2 dead, 2 injured in Claiborne County crash

The crash occurred late Wednesday on Old Highway 63.

Two men died and two others suffered injuries late Wednesday when the vehicle they were traveling in went off a Claiborne County road and crashed into trees.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as Dustin T. Jenkins Jr., 18, the driver, and James Marsee, 33, a passenger.

Also, passengers Preston Lemons, 23, and Andrew Holt, 18, suffered injuries. They were airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

According to a THP report, the crash happened about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday on Old Highway 53 near Dan Bean Road.

Jenkins, driving a 2012 Subaru Tribeca, was heading east on the highway when he failed to stay in his lane, according to the report. The vehicle went off to the right.

"The vehicle struck several standing trees, coming to an uncontrolled rest," the report states.

Marsee, sitting in the back, and Jenkins were dead when authorities arrived. Neither wore a seatbelt, according to a report.

Lemons and Holt had their seatbelts on, the report shows.
