KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Yassin's Falafel House said it was collecting donations to help communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and the historic flooding it brought to upper East Tennessee and across the Southeast.
The restaurant said on social media that it would collect donations at all three of its locations through 6 p.m. on Monday. It said it needed donations of water, healthy beverages, ready-to-eat meals and snacks as well as temporary housing solutions and hygiene kits. It was also collecting childcare supplies, pet food and feminine hygiene products.
Yassin's Falafel House also said it is planning to cook or bring hot meals to affected areas. It said it was working with Seeds and Bridges, a nonprofit created by Yassin Terou, on the effort. The nonprofit helps people impacted by a variety of tragedies ranging from widespread disasters to addiction, including several other issues in between.
On social media, it also shared a fundraiser where people can help impacted communities.
"Keep it coming guys we had a great start but we will not take a break until all our trucks are full and we can’t do it with out of you," it said online.
