University of Tennessee honors veterans with wreath-laying ceremony

There is a memorial on campus that has over 300 names to honor the lives and sacrifices of fallen heroes.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee held a wreath-laying ceremony to honor veterans.

The event was part of their week-long celebration of veterans in Tennessee. There is a memorial on campus that has over 300 names to honor the lives and sacrifices of fallen heroes. And at this year's ceremony, two more names were added.

Veterans at Sunday's event said the event was special and important to ensure everyone remembers the names of those who made ultimate sacrifices.

"It's just important to remember those names who made the ultimate sacrifice who had an association with the University of Tennessee," Lt. Col. Logan Hickman said.

The memorial is near Fred Brown Hall on the pedestrian walkway. It is open for viewing and paying respects.
