KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A nonprofit in Knoxville will spend much of Saturday, Jan. 6, making sure families throughout the community have food in their pantries and diapers for their children. The event is named Serve Knox Saturday, and it will be at the Transformation Church parking lot.

The church is located at 340 Park Village Road, and organizers asked people not to arrive earlier than 7:30 a.m. Team members will not be available to arrange the line before that time, according to a post from Generous House Knoxville on social media.

The Generous House is a nonprofit founded by members of Transformation Church. It said team members gave out more than 79,000 lbs. of food in 2022 and gave more than 30,000 meals to Knoxville families. It also gave away more than 15,000 diapers to people across five counties and served more than 9,000 people in Knoxville.

People who need food and diapers do not need a food voucher to participate during Serve Knox Saturday, and it is expected to run until noon or until the nonprofit runs out of food. People also do not need to pre-register. A registration form will be given out as people arrive.

The nonprofit also serves people who live outside of Knox County, but warned it could not guarantee food would be available by the time people arrive if they need to travel far. An adult must be present to receive food.

The event is expected to formally start at 10 a.m. Volunteers will spend much of the morning packaging and preparing food, while also preparing hot meals for participants.
