KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — People will be able to attend three events in the coming weeks to raise money for a Cocke County nonprofit that is working to help communities like Hartford, Grassy Fork and Hot Springs recover from the impact of Hurricane Helene.

Knox Pride and South Press are helping organize them. The events will raise money and resources for Clean Water Expected in East Tennessee. The nonprofit said it was formed in 2006 and worked to address pollution in the Pigeon River, as well as uplift Appalachian communities. The river overflowed and flooded communities during the historic flooding nearly a week ago.

The nonprofit said on social media in the days since the flooding, it worked to meet individual needs like delivering supplies. It said it has collected donations of supplies at different locations in Newport and Hartford. It has also given out water in Cosby.

The events benefiting CWEET are listed below.

  • Oct. 24: Variety Show
  • Nov. 7: "Shake 'N Bake" bake sale
  • Nov. 14: Silent Disco

Knox Pride and South Press said it needs volunteers to perform and work tech positions, helping make sure the events are successful. They also plan on hosting vendors at the events.

Knox Pride also said people can drop off resources in person at South Press or at its community center.
