Knox Co. Juvenile Court hosts chili cookoff, raising money to support foster families

Proceeds from the chili cookoff also went to the Volunteer Advisory Board.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County Juvenile Court held its annual chili cook-off lunch and basket auction on Friday, bringing together members of the community to show off their cooking skills while raising money to support foster children and foster families.

Money from the event goes to the Volunteer Advisory Board, as well as helping host the annual "Foster Care Appreciation Dinner." The dinner is meant to show support for foster care parents while also helping meet the needs of children in emergency foster care.

"It's great to know people support it. It's nice to be able to show people the other side of what we do, 98% of what we do is about children and visiting their parents and foster care and getting them ready to be adopted," said Tim Irwin, a judge in Knox County Juvenile Court.

WBIR's own Abby Ham was a judge in the cookoff.
