KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Gay Street saw a huge turnout for Knoxville's annual Veterans Day parade on Friday. Organizers from American Legion Post 2 the event was one of the biggest they had ever seen despite cold and drizzly weather.
Some of the highlights include the Grand Marshall of the parade — Captain Bill Robinson. He was a prisoner of the Vietnam War for around seven-and-a-half years. He's the longest enlisted man held captive in U.S. History.
Also, the nation's only female three-star general, Carol Mutter, was in attendance.
A lot of people were excited to see the Budweiser Clydesdale horses, although parade watchers were only able to see glimpses of them through the semi-trucks they were housed in. The horses could not walk on the pavement due to the wet weather.
In addition, dozens of organizations, high school marching bands, and junior ROTC groups were part of the parade.
