(WBIR – CLINTON) The Clinton City Council approved a new city budget at its meeting Monday night, but it is still unknown how much the property tax rate will increase.

The city council passed the $11,159,716 budget on a 6-1 vote. Mayor Scott Burton was the lone dissenting vote.

The increased property rate tax cannot be decided until the county finishes a reappraisal of various homes, businesses and industries.

The city's current tax rate is 76 cents per $100 assessment.

Mayor Burton did not have an estimate for how much the current property tax rate would increase.
