KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — There will be some changes to the emergency room and several other entrances as Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center continues its $115 million dollar expansion project.
The hospital is working to eventually expand its emergency and critical care capacity at the downtown medical center on Clinch Avenue, near the UT campus.
Emergency room changes
Starting Monday, Feb. 4, emergency department patient drop-off will be routed through the Trustees Tower garage (entrance on Laurel Ave.). A large construction fence will be installed at Laurel Ave. and 19th street, prohibiting access to the existing ED drop-off. Signage will be placed surrounding the hospital to direct patients to the new entrance, and parking attendants will be in place inside the garage to assist patients and visitors.
Ambulances will access Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center from the front side of the hospital facing Clinch Ave. beginning Monday, Feb. 4.
Center for Advanced Medicine Parking Garage
Level 2 (P2) of the CAM parking garage, located behind the Center for Advanced Medicine at the east end of the hospital, will permanently close on Saturday, Feb. 2. Patients and visitors can find additional parking in the Thompson Cancer Survival Center parking garage (access available via Clinch Ave. or White Ave.) or in the Laurel Ave. parking garage behind the hospital.
