(WBIR-KNOXVILLE) A spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Knoxville said Thursday that Bishop Richard Stika is showing significant signs of improvement.
"The Bishop spent a restful night in the hospital and continues to recover. We are grateful to all those who are praying for him and ask that you keep praying for his full recovery," according to the statement.

Bishop Richard Stika of the Roman Catholic Diocese is recovering from complications related to a "diabetic incident," according to a church spokesman.
Stika is in an area hospital, according to Jim Wogan, director of communications. He'll spend Wednesday night in the hospital, according to Wogan.
Stika is "improving and his condition is stabilizing," according to Wogan's statement.
An initial statement noted the bishop was recovering from a "critical situation" related to diabetes.
"We ask for your prayers for his continued recovery and will be updating you as information becomes available. At the present time he is not receiving visitors," according to the initial statement.
