(WBIR - KNOX COUNTY) A greenway in the Halls area is flooding because beavers have built a dam on nearby Beaver Creek.

Knox County Parks and Recreation says they have installed a pond leveler in one location that they hope will help, but the greenways are very close to nature.

"We have a structure that we build that requires us to take down the dam, but then we put a structure in there that bypasses the dam to some extent and it gives us the possibility to coexist with the beavers so they can do what they do and we can still have our greenway," said Eric Hahn, Parks and Recreation deputy director.

Hahn said even if they relocate the beavers, new ones will just settle in the same space in the North Knox County area.
