I joined WBIR in July of 2014.
I've spent two summers in Knoxville and always hoped my news career would bring me back here.
I got my first break on air at WREX-TV in Rockford, IL. I started as a multimedia journalist and was promoted to weekend anchor and spent my last year and a half there as a morning anchor. My best memories are from my time on the morning show – we learned to play hockey during the Winter Olympics and I had to overcome my fear of rollercoasters and ride Batman backwards three times in the same day.
I attended Hampton University in Hampton, VA where I studied Broadcast Journalism at the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communication and minored in political science. During my time at Hampton I interned right here in Knoxville at Scripps Networks, the Halls Fountain City Shopper, and the News Sentinel. My junior year I interned at WTKR in Norfolk, VA and wrote sports for the Daily Press in Newport News, VA my senior year. After graduating worked as an intern in the Baltimore Sun's sports department covering a lot of lacrosse and getting to interview Ray Lewis.
My first real job after school came working as a desk assistant for NBC News and MSNBC in Washington, DC where I did everything from answering phones and making copies to working as the weekend producer at the White House. Seeing President Obama up close and meeting Brian Williams were the coolest parts of that job.
I'm a native of Spartanburg, SC and am really happy to be a lot closer to home. I do miss the Midwest, but I really got tired of wearing long underwear 9 months out of the year.
I like dogs, cooking, and watching football. I'm a HUGE college football fan and am looking forward to seeing the Vols in person.
