22 Knox County inmates in isolation due to COVID-19

"We're trying very desperately keeping up our people them make sure that we will monitor them," Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Almost two dozens inmates at the Knox County Detention Center are being isolated and monitored for symptoms of COVID-19.

Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler says any inmate who thinks they've been around someone with the virus is also being isolated.

"If they're sneezing or coughing what ever it may be we are taking abundance caution to make sure that we keep that curtailed if at all possible and we're trying very desperately keeping up our people them make sure that we will monitor them," Spangler said.

Sheriff Spangler said they will begin testing once they receive their test kits.

The department is also screening employees and anyone else who comes in the facility by checking their temperature.
