Walmart to open one hour early for senior-only shopping on Tuesdays, changing store hours

Stores will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8:30 p.m.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart's store hours are changing and stores will now open one hour early on Tuesdays, for senior shoppers only.

According to the announcement, all of Walmart's U.S. stores will now open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:30 p.m starting Thursday, March 19th. Stores that already open later than 7:00 a.m. will open at their regular time. The company said the changes will allow associates more time to stock shelves and to clean the stores.

Customers at least 60-years-old will have their own special shopping hours before each store opens every Tuesday. The shopping hour will start on March 24 and last until April 28.

Walmart also announced item limitations on select products to make sure they don't sell out too quickly. Those items include milk, eggs, baby food, formula, wipes, diapers, water, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies.

The changes come just days after Walmart changed store hours due to the coronavirus. The company said the results were promising, and these new changes are additional steps the company is taking.
